Recaps - The night before

We hightailed it out of the venue to make our very last holy shit we need to learn this dance or we're screwed dance lesson. Yep, at 4:30pm the day before the wedding we were learning the ending to our wedding dance. The dance studio had neglected to tell us they shut for nearly two weeks at Christmas and reopen on the 30th of December.

We were super tense on the drive there. Really thought about skipping it. But we'd paid for the lesson, and we did know 3/4 of the dance - we really needed the ending.

We managed to nail it - JUST. It was not the big finish, or the fancy dance I had hoped for. But it would have to do.

We got home just in time to turn around and leave again for our rehearsal dinner. I did NOT want to go. We were meeting up with my parents, my sister, our best friends and Mr B's parents. Miss P wanted to stay home and I begged her to come with us. She is a trooper and could see that I needed her.

After the drama with the inlaws (I didn't even know how much more drama they would cause the next day yet) I did not feel like I was in the best mood to see them. It took all my will power not to give them a serving over dinner. Dinner was tense to say the least.

My parents & our friends tried as best they could to break the tension. They were really great. It felt good that they knew both of us well enough to know that we were at the end of our tethers.

We finally left at 10pm and headed over to the hotel. It had been a hot day 38 degrees (100.4f) and we were both really looking forward to sleeping in our air conditioned hotel rooms. Miss P was with us as we were planning on spending the night before the wedding together with Mr B in his own hotel room.

We arrived and went to check in to be told that our entire block of hotel rooms had been canceled. Not just our room, but ALL OUR GUESTS rooms for the following night too.

Mr B is a travel agent and had actually booked the rooms through his work. We KNEW they hadn't been canceled. We had paid in full for every room.

I could not handle it and went and sat down on a couch in the lobby. It was the last straw.

Poor Mr B spent over an hour trying to get to the bottom of the problem to no avail.

We had no rooms, and no choice but to head home to our HOT house at 11:30pm the night before our wedding.

It was not going well.

Did you ever figure out what the heck was up with the hotel rooms? If they were paid in full did you get a refund since you didn't get to use them? That would seriously piss me off! I can't imagine how you were even able to hold anything together at that point. I keep telling myself that nothing is going to bother me on the day before and the day of, but honestly, if I have to deal with everything you did, I will seriously go ballistic on someone!

I am hoping our rehearsal is a lot of fun and just goofy. But we'll see what happens...right now, I am mostly just hoping for good weather :)

that is awful! so sorry to hear about the crazy stress before the big deal. I love though that the pictures of your big day (which are totally gorgeous) just show a happy, beautiful bride. If I didn't read your blog I would have no idea that you were this stressed out right before. I am very impressed!

Wow, you were amazing for holding up during the drama with the hotel rooms. I would have gone crazy at the hotel.

How are the in laws now?

Oh my.

I can not believe the hotel rooms. That, on top of all the other stress, would have resulted in me as a mess of tears in the lobby. What ever happened with the rooms and how did everyone deal with it all???

I would have been so pissed off if that happened - you did so well to stay calm!

So sorry you had all this stress the day & night before!

WOW! How terrible and frustrating for you. I could not imagine how you felt during that moment... I would not be able to keep myself together.

Two recaps in as many days? You are spoiling us!

I can't believe that happened to you.

I would have fallen to pieces at that point.

Having said that, you've come out the other side, so if anything like that happens to me I'll remind myself that it happened to you and you survived!

I have no idea what to say! I think I would be cancelling the wedding and eloping at this point! Wow! What the heck happened?! Can't wait for your next post!

I wish you could have called a mulligan for your wedding [or a do-over or whatever you call it in Australia :)]

Are you at the point yet when you can look back at it and laugh? What doesn't kill you will make you stronger, or at least will make for a good story, right?

how did you pull it all off??? that would have been major breakdown time!!! did the hotel situation ever get taken care of?

Awe :(

Especially in that horrible heat you poor things!

That sucks! I would have freaked out and probably had a breakdown right then especially after everything else that had already happened. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story!

Goodness, what happened with the hotel rooms? That hotel would have gotten a yelling at from everyone in my family.

That's terrible, and how unprofessional of that hotel . . . they should have set you up at another hotel free of charge! You are amazing for making it through this in one piece. And it's so great that you had the support of Miss P, and the Mr. of course, to help you through it.

Seriously? Speechless I be!

eff me! seriously girl every time I think "surely that is all that can go wrong" no it just keeps getting worse. Wish I had been there to give you a big hug or to shout crap at the hotel on your behalf. One day you will look back on it all and laugh and it will make a great story to tell the grand children. I'd have been in floods.
