I have a treat for you all today. A wedding recap from none other than my husband Mr B!
FYI - he and Miss P are in a rumble for who gets the most comments - goof balls.
There’s a black hole on wedding days, which I risk the wrath of my fellow men to mention.

There’s a black hole on wedding days, which I risk the wrath of my fellow men to mention.
A secret time during the event which goes unnoticed.
Alright that’s a little melodramatic, but Mrs T asked me to talk about the Big W from my point of view. So as a special guest blogger I get to explain things my own way.
So back to the black hole, dictionary defined as a “great void; an abyss” which us lucky men get to enjoy during the women’s ritual known as hair and make-up.
I’m assuming that the ladies are so busy with straightening irons and such to notice we have time to enjoy a quiet ale.Alright that’s a little melodramatic, but Mrs T asked me to talk about the Big W from my point of view. So as a special guest blogger I get to explain things my own way.
So back to the black hole, dictionary defined as a “great void; an abyss” which us lucky men get to enjoy during the women’s ritual known as hair and make-up.Now I’m wondering if you wonder about us.
Are you so busy curling and straightening that you are really not bothered, or is it that our lack of need for concealer means we get left to our own devices in the middle of the busiest day on Earth. Does it bother you that we generally relax while you work yourselves in to a tizz?
I’m sure the chatter is different but I didn’t realize how different men and women can be until our video guy ducked between the two rooms we were using to get ready. The wedding day was an absolute scorcher ( 43c/110f ) and after a 40 minute session filming the ladies, video returned to find a round of cold lagers, a poker game mid session, football on the tube, and one particularly sweaty groomsman who was beating the heat by holding a pair of aces without wearing pants. It’s an amusing situation only a bunch of boys could land themselves in.
Our wedding day was fantastic, and crazy, and hot. And it was ours. There are just a few moments in the lead up that were all mine.
This was one of them.

Awww what a cutie!
Loving the groomsmen without pants on- priceless!
Luckily our photog will be going between our two rooms on the day in Oz- I think the groom getting ready is something we often miss!
Also the Groomie is a camera whore so I doubt he'd let the morning go by without somebody taking photos. Hehehe.
Hi there Mr. B! And welcome! To be perfectly honest, I have not given a lot of thought to what goes on with the guys in the hours spent while the women get dolled up. Or what goes on in the grooms head when he doesn't have much to do on the big day. Thanks for the glimpse into this. And I love how you guy spent it!
That's great you had that time with your guys! My husband was stuck setting up the venue until literally right before our first look... :( Oops.
this is hysterical! I had the guys running errands and fixing last minute details. Im sure they would have had more fun playing poker!
I love your hubby's perspective! I do remember wondering what the boys were up to and feeling slightly jealous that they were playing bags outside!
cuuuute! I love the recap and the statement about girls freakin out while men stay calm. Yes, we notice, haha. And we're jealous of your ability to stay calm every second of it.
I love your post, Mr. B! Stephen and I were just talking the other day about what he and the guys are going to do with all the free time they have while we’re getting ready. If I know my guy, he’ll probably use some of the time to sleep in (unless he can't because he's just too excited). :)
Jsoh and I had initially planned to get ready together, but with the way our set up may go... we may have to get ready separately from each other.
I always imagined if we got ready together we'd slam a couple glasses of wine, a log of sopresata and some sharp cheese. I'd fix his hair and my hair, he'd zip up my dress and then we'd grab hands and strut out to our mingling sesh before the ceremony.
Ohhh... I'm getting excited!
I wish we didn't have to sit through hours of hair and makeup but alas. Sounds like you had fun! Pantless poker is the best.
This is too funny and it's awesome to see the guy's perspective. Great post, Mr. B!
I love this post! And I guarantee my fiance is going to have a great time hanging out while I'm running to a jillion appointments stressing out. I am going to make my fiance blog on my recaps when we get there. Such a great idea!
I love this - the contrast between the two sides. We were late because I left my dress at the salon! The guys had their own session and had fun.
Too funny! I love it!
I am sure my fiance is gonna have a good time with his friends while I get all stress out...:-). Guess that is just the way it is...
Great post Mr. B.

Oh how I love the groom's perspective. So fabulous...Mr Fix It would never be able to write something like this. Maybe I can get him to dictate it to me? :)
I ADORE these shots of you guys playing poker pantsless...so perfect. Wish we had some like this (sigh).
I love that the guys have down time somewhat...it's necessary because if we worked them up into a tizz too early in the day, they'd never be able to endure all the hustle, bustle and demands of photos, vows, dances, toasts and so on. :)
I always wondered what the guys did while us women were busily doing the final touches of hair and makeup on the big day. Thanks for the insight of your perspective.
I don't think my groom had that much fun before our ceremony, but neither did I, so I guess it's even? It's true though, you guys and your luck around what's considered "grooming" for the big day! lol
I have always thought it was totally unfair. We have to prep from head to toe in minute detail, all they do is shave their face and put on a suit?!
I can bet my groom's prep will look almost exactly like yours did Mr B, right down to the poker and, on the off chance it hits 43 on our day, the pantlessness.
I am determined to get champagne and girly giggles while he gets his boyish beers!
Oh amazing! Thx Mr B! I've always wanted to hear the groom's perspective! How fabulous! I always imagine it to be so much calmer and cooler and just plain fun compared to the girl's side of things.
I am totally happy for my guys to relax while we beautify... once all his jobs are done! I was recently MOH at a small DIY family wedding where my FH was best man. While we were getting 8 flowergirls and ourselves ready + cleaning, decorating and preparing food, the boys were at their hotel room drinking. Oh so not happening at my wedding!
